Trimming
A Neighbor's
Tree
If
the
homeowner
would
like
to
perform
tree
work
on a
tree
that
resides
on a
neighbor’s
property,
Neighborhood
Tree
Service
must
receive
written
consent
from
the neighbor
prior
to
performing
any
tree
work.
Typically,
two
homeowners
share
the price
of
removing
a
tree
or
trimming
a
tree
that
is located
on
both
properties.
Maryland
state
laws
permit
the homeowner
to
cut
any
limbs
hanging
over
their
property
without
seeking
the
tree
owner’s
permission. However,
to
promote
the
health
of
the
tree,
proper cuts
are
necessary;
which
could
require
cutting
a
limb that
is
located
over
the
property
line,
which
would
still
require
the
tree
owner’s
permission.
